Sudan grass is a tall, fast-growing green fodder used as part of a balanced ration for cattle and buffalo. Its feed value varies with variety and growth stage, so plan the ration with advice from a livestock officer.
Growing it in Bangladesh
- Sowing time
- Insaf's hybrid Sudan grass can be planted at any time of year and is ready to cut again 25-30 days after each cutting.
- Weather & soil
- It grows well in warm weather on drained land with enough water. Before feeding very young or drought-stressed grass, consult a livestock officer — it can be risky for animals.
- Care
- Cut once the grass is well grown — leaving 15-20 cm above the soil lets it regrow
- Do not feed very young or drought-stressed grass to animals
- After each cut, give the grass time to regrow properly before cutting again
- Regular watering supports strong growth and yield
